Katharine "Katie" Flannery, MA

Katie grew up in Bettendorf, IA and attended Iowa State University as a History major and Psychology minor. Following her graduation from ISU, Katie moved up to Minneapolis, MN where she pursued a Master of Arts Degree in Leadership in Student Affairs at the University of St. Thomas. While in graduate school, Katie first worked at Normandale Community College in Bloomington, MN for one year in both Student Activities and then with the America Reads and Counts program and service learning opportunities. During her final year of graduate school, Katie worked at Macalester College in St. Paul, MN in Campus Activities and Programs. After graduating with her Masters in May, 2016, Katie was excited to return to ISU as a Cyclone Success Coach! In her free time, Katie enjoys attending ISU sporting events, and going on camping and hiking trips to explore the great outdoors!

Carolyn Duven, MA

Carolyn hails from River Falls, WI. She attended Ripon College and recieved a BA in English in 2004. After her undergraduate experience, she receieved a Master's Degree from Bowling Green State University. Before coming to work at Iowa State, Carolyn worked at Cornell College in Eastern Iowa at an Assistant Director of Residence Life. While at Iowa State, Carolyn has worked in the Department of Residence as a hall director in various communities across campus. In her spare time she is working on completing her PhD in Higher Education, reading novels, and doing her research. She looks forward to spending time with friends and family, usually cooking or going out to eat. She truly believes that ISU is her Cyclone Home!

Jarrel Johnson

Jarrel Johnson is a higher education practitioner dedicated to helping students succeed in their educational pursuits. He is particularly passionate about facilitating programs and services with the intention to increase the overall success of first generation and/or low income college students. Jarrel served has worked at a variety of higher education institutions. Previously, he served as the Assistant Dean of Admissions and Advising and Program Manager for the Posse Program at Cornell University. In this role, he was the first person responsible for directing the Posse Program. His educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in English from Shaw University, Master of Science in Entertainment Business from Full Sail University, and a Master of Education in Higher Education Leadership from Mercer University. Outside of his passion for serving college students, Jarrel enjoys music, attending live concerts, spirituality, learning about health and wellness, and fitness activities.
