Academic Success Center Announces Reorganization and New Hires

July 2019

The Academic Success Center (ASC), a department within the Dean of Students Office in the Division of Student Affairs, is excited to announce a recently completed organizational restructure. These changes will allow the ASC to better serve students, connect with campus partners, and support staff in achieving our mission to help Cyclones succeed. As part of the new organizational structure, the three existing program coordinator positions have been elevated to assistant directors. These positions have assumed additional duties over the last several years and this change reflects updating these key leadership responsibilities. In addition, the ASC hired three new staff members who will provide year-round support in each service area (Academic Coaching and Outreach, Supplemental Instruction and PSYCH 131, and Tutoring Services). Finally, a new graduate assistant was hired for Academic Coaching and Outreach and will assist with the new Smart Start program which provides support to first-time, full-time students who have not received automatic admission to the University based on their RAI score. Biographies of new staff members are below.

The spring semester also concluded the final year of outreach to students by our Cyclone Success Coaches and MAAPS Grant, a University Innovation Alliance initiative. We would like to extend our thanks to coaches Brenda Kutz and Molly Drilling for their commitment to this program, its students, and excellent administrative work as part of the grant.

Please join us in congratulating the coaches on a job well done and welcoming our new ASC team members as we venture into a new chapter in the ASC!
